First Impressions
Some of you out there may remember Sir Gerry's first level, Death Star. Well, Tales from Mos Varii has improved over that one. He has taken a semi-stable plot, added some more architecture, and some playability to make a decent MotS SP level. Actually, this is a 3 mini-level pack, with Mos Varii, Inside SSD Alpha, and The Final Challenge. However, it has a few problems. As Yoda might say: "Good level this is, but drawbacks it has."

Design / Visuals
The architecture in this level is unexceptional, and it has few bugs. The layout was simply too confusing and, combined with a lack of objectives, left you with absolutely no idea of what you are meant to be doing. Even after you have figured out that the only way to go is through a locked door, the streets of Mos Varii are so maze-like that it will take you ages to find it. I found it to be solid without being terribly interesting. He did a great job with texturing - they all flowed together nicely. Lighting was interesting. He had dark shadows in places, bright daylight in others - yet it was supposed to be night! I also saw no colored lighting anywhere.
Dynamics / Interactivity
Enemy placement in this level was not good. There were over a dozen stormtroopers running at you during the first 5-6 seconds of the level! Sir Gerry obviously needs to learn a bit in this field, as he made the same mistake in his first level. However, he didn't mix and match random enemies whenever it suited him: Imperials on the SSD, Imps, civilians, and pirates in Mos Varii. He also increased the end-level boss' health considerably - I could not kill him even after 10-15 minutes of repeated saber swinging! His item placement was somewhat sparse, but it forced me to conserve ammo. He also made good use of COGs - force fields, doors, that kind of thing.
Playing Experience / Atmosphere
This level captured the atmosphere of the Star Wars universe for sure, even if it's gameplay was not up to par. I kept mumbling to myself about "Where is that key?" and "If I use a scope, I can take most of them out..." This is the sign of real atmosphere. Realism was good, but there weren't many details - then again, this is a mini-level set. I found very few bugs in these levels. Framerate was good with both 3D acceleration and no 3D acceleration. There was one thing that caught my attention: In the Jedi Powers screen after each level, my level 2 Force Powers didn't show up unless I added a star to one of my other powers. I don't know what causes this, but I'd love to find out.

Final Thoughts
Truthfully, this is a fun set of levels to play. While a bit lacking in some areas, I enjoyed doing this review for it as well, because Sir Gerry knows his stuff - and I hope he will keep learning and give us some more JK and MotS single player levels soon.
